| Sumár projektu: | The project We Are Eco-friendly is based on the cooperation between two schools from different European regions in the ecology field. It deals with various kinds of climate, inland climate in Slovakia and littoral climate in Croatia. Both schools provide primary education and they have local importance for the regions of historic town in Krupina situated in the central Slovakia and spa town Krapinske Toplice situated in the north-west Croatia. Via this project we would like to contribute to the environmental protection in both towns, develop pupils´ positive attitude to the environment, improve pupils´ English skills, use the open education method of studying and making final products, monitor town´s traffic situation, do the light pollution research, compare the state of green areas in both towns, plant more than 100 trees near Slovak town , plant flowers and herbs in the garden of Croatian school, cooperate as Europeans and share languages. Approximately 120 pupils (60 pupils from each school) aged 12 to 15, 15 teachers and 6 other staff members from both schools, pupils´ parents, both town mayors and several specialists from the ecology area are involved in this project. There will be 4 meetings organized during project implementation. Each project meeting will be devoted to different topic. The first year we will concentrate our attention on water, light and air pollution in our towns and we will compare results of observation. During the second year pupils will go inside the topics: forest and green zones in our towns, global warming and recycling. The pupils use English as communication language, do partial projects (for example a photobook of green zones in 4 seasons), Power Point presentations (like water areas and spas in our regions), English – Croatian – Slovak Dictionary (about environmental and global warming problems), contribute to an ecology magazine and a common website (named We are eco- friendly), visit national parks in both countries. The schools make the process of learning more attractive for the pupils via the open education study method. As a result, the pupils improve their knowledge in the area of ecology and also their language skills in English, the schools improve their communication with local authorities and companies, the parents will be actively involved in pupils´exchanges and we should mention also increasement of the publicity of our regions and their beautiful nature. Some useful activities can continue in the future, especially planting trees near Krupina, monitoring of transport situation in Krupina, light pollution research in Krapinske Toplice, planting the flowers in other areas of Krapinske Toplice, cleaning the towns on the Earth Day, recycling. |
