Objectives of the project: - acquire new teaching ideas, skills and materials to increase students` motivation, - thanks to meeting teachers form different European countries we hope to learn something new about their culture, and let them learn something about our cultural heritage, - improve cultural education focussing on the European Community and increase students` awareness on that, in order to develop European dimension in education, - improve teachers` language competences. 3. Number and profile of participants: - two participants on two training activities (the first in Chelmsford, UK: Language Development and Britain Today; the second in Malta: Empowerment in Information Communication Technology Skills), both are 1week courses for European teachers. The selection of participants was seriously done under formal selection taken by the school management staff, considering the strict criteria for personal and professional requirements, as well as the set project objectives. The participants are experienced teachers willing to implement new methods into teaching, grow personally and professionally, motivate students and collegues. Another important fact is that they teach different subjects, not only English, so thus the new ways of teaching can be implemented into more school subjects. 4. Description of activities: - the participants` attendance on two training activities, in UK and Malta: - Language Development and Britain Today (Chelmsford, UK) - 15-23 November 2014, focussing on changes in British lifestyle, society, education system, new teaching ideas and motivating materials, language skills improvement, exchanging ideas and developing links with other European teachers; - Empowerment in ICT Skills (Malta) - 01-05 June 2015, concentrating on skills in technology, ICT improvement and its integrating into teaching, motivating activities, new teaching methods and ideas, development of language skills, discovering Maltese cultural heritage, develop links and exchange ideas with other European teachers. 5. Methodology to be used in carrying out the project: - the participants will go through the recommended pre-reading list given by the training institutions, - the participants will prepare a questionnaire for teachers from other European countries attending the course, in order to get some knowledge about their culture, traditions, lifestyle, etc. The gained information from the questionnaire will be published in the e-book, which will be used by teachers and students. Thus we want to help them find out the most interesting cultural aspects within European Community. We believe that such implementation into education will increase students` European awareness. - active attendance on the courses (Language Development and Britain Today; Empowerment in ICT Skills), gaining as much knowledge and creative ideas as possible, then disseminate, exchange experience with other teachers; - dissemination will be done by sessions, discussions and workshops not only with teachers at our school, but also teachers from different schools in the local area. 6. Description of the results / impact: - we expect that increased knowledge and experience of the project participants will contribute to their personal and professional development and through dissemination other collegues, students and the whole school will benefit. 7. The potential longer term benefits: - we expect implementation of new teaching ideas and methods will increase students` motivation and awareness of European citizenship and cultural heritage, educate them how to overcome differences, - develop contacts with other European teachers interested in arranging a school partnership project in the future, to provide opportunity for our students to make friends and experience new cultures personally, let them become well-educated young Europeans. |
